Science made simple gets spooky at Butlins.
Science made simple was commissioned by the Institute of Physics to help produce a science show for Butlins holiday camps.
The Institute works hard to bring physics into new places and present scientific ideas in non-threatening environments. The project was unusual since, although science made simple developed the content, the show was performed by actors. It was interesting to see their theatrical expertise brought to bear on a science show.
Aimed at October half term the theme was “spooky science” physics on a halloween theme. We developed a series of demonstrations with supposedly mysterious origins which two ghost hunters could explore.
Invisible writing appears under UV light, people’s heads expand and weird noises echo around the room. Our brave ghost hunters reveal all the secrets in the knockabout show which was seen by thousands of holiday makers at Butlins three UK sites.
