Are you interested in a fully funded STEM careers project for your Year 5 learners?
We are pleased to invite your school to participate in STEM Person of the Week Cymru – an engaging STEM careers project, available to schools across Wales. This initiative, delivered by Science Made Simple in partnership with nustem (Northumbria University), aims to inspire young people to consider careers in STEM.
Interactive STEM show: Kick off with a 50-minute interactive show for all Key Stage 2 learners. The show introduces five STEM role models with Welsh connections. The science they are working on is demonstrated in a fun interactive way while highlighting key personality traits, encouraging the learners to look for these traits in themselves.
Follow up activities: Over five weeks, teachers receive STEM Person of the Week cards and posters to help introduce various characteristics and role models. You’ll encourage learners to recognize and celebrate these traits in themselves throughout the week.
Professional development: A short CPD workshop will be provided to support teachers in delivering the program and to discuss the importance of career confidence at the primary level.
Family engagement: Parents are welcome to attend the show if the school can accommodate them. An online quiz will be available for learners to complete at home with their families, encouraging them to recognise their personal strengths and develop career confidence.
Evaluation: Teachers and learners help us to monitor impact by completing short surveys before and after the project.
